To ferry you into the unknown, we've enlisted a motley crew of journalists and explorers from the fringes of cultural norms and accepted behavior.
And we've provided guides to help you navigate the uncharted waters that our contributors test daily. These three experts have walked their own unbeaten paths to fortune, fame and just the right amount of infamy. Each of our experts represents an area of expertise that we consider crucial to the work of the Academy.
Dhani Jones, an ex-pro athlete who has traveled the world taking on exotic sports, helms Sport and Adventure. Michael Anderson, a world-renowned collage artist, chairs the Arts department. And Craig Thornton, a gourmet chef who is redefining the very idea of "restaurant," will host Culinary exploration.
